The benefits of ptosis glasses
- The ptosis glasses have a special titanium bracket that is hypoallergenic and lightweight.
- The bracket can be placed in almost any plastic frame.
- When wearing the glasses, you can hardly see the underwire.
- One can simply blink while the bracket is in use.
The above points provide very comfortable wearing comfort for our customers compared to standard ptosis glasses.
The brackets for the ptosis glasses may be reimbursed by your health insurer.

About 10 years ago I noticed that I was having more and more difficulty keeping my eyes open properly. It seemed like I was constantly looking into the sun with squinted eyes. And because it kept getting worse, I decided to see a doctor. His first diagnosis was immediately correct: I had blepharospasm.
Blepharospasm (or ptosis) is a low position of the upper eyelid due to high muscle tension (a spasm of the muscles around the eye) and it cannot be cured. It can be caused by various causes, such as thyroid problems, over-fatigue or a traumatic event.
I did not accept the news that I had to learn to live with it, so I visited many doctors and hospitals in search of a solution. Unfortunately it wasn't there for me. I was treated with Botox every 3 months, but that only helped for a short time. Soon after the treatment, the eyelids started to sag again and I had to continue without driving, reading, watching TV or cycling.
At one point I heard through the grapevine about ptosis glasses. While searching on the internet I came across Oogwereld Oosterhof in Eindhoven. I immediately made an appointment and after consultation and advice we ordered ptosis glasses. My expectations were great and the day I could pick up my glasses was very exciting...
Then a world literally and figuratively opened up for me! I was able to walk again with 2 free hands, drive a car, read and do my housework properly. In addition, I can often travel again, which is my biggest hobby. Most people in my immediate environment know about it, but you hardly see it.
It has now been many years and I have already worn out a few glasses or I just want a new frame. My optician is very helpful and does everything necessary to make the glasses as comfortable as possible. I recently got new “THEO” glasses that I am very happy with.
