The Working Conditions Act
The Working Conditions Act prescribes that at a noise level of:
• 80 dB: an employer is obliged to make hearing protection available to an employee when working in a noise level of 80 dB.
• 83 dB: an employee may work for a maximum of 4 hours without hearing protection. Otherwise, the risk of hearing damage is very high.
• 85 dB or higher: an employee is obliged to actually wear hearing protection. These can be ear muffs, ear plugs or custom ear plugs. In this case, the employer is also obliged to offer this protection.
